Ron Williams practice focuses on energy, telecommunications, and business law, legislative and regulatory matters. Ron is general counsel, lobbyist, and Executive Director for the Idaho Cable Broadband Association (ICBA), a trade association comprised of Idaho cable broadband providers. Ron also serves as general counsel, lobbyist, and Executive Director for the Idaho Energy Resources Authority (IERA), a bonding authority created by statute and empowered to assist in the financing and development of energy projects. He led the legislative effort, creating the IERA, on behalf of the Idaho Consumer-Owned Utilities Association (ICUA).
Ron also represents Andeavor/Tesoro Corporation regarding its refining operations and petroleum pipeline in southern Idaho, and transmission and renewable energy developers with large-scale projects located in the state.
Ron currently advises industrial customers on electric power issues and represents large energy consumers before the Idaho Public Utilities Commission. He also counsels municipal and cooperative electric utilities on retail and wholesale electric matters and if also General Counsel for Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative. Ron is active in renewable energy and independent power development – in negotiating contracts, at the Idaho Legislature, and before the Idaho PUC.
Prior to entering private practice, Ron was senior legal counsel at Idaho Power Company where he served as a regulatory and energy attorney appearing before the Idaho, Oregon, and Nevada utility regulatory commissions on a variety of rate-making and other matters, and as general counsel to project development subsidiaries and affiliated companies of Idaho Power.
