Brian Ballard is a member of the firm’s real estate group (formerly having been head of the group), and nowadays focuses his practice on complex commercial transactional work, in particular shopping center and apartment complex development, planned community development and sales tax anticipation revenue (STAR) financing. Brian works from a Remote Office (RO) as he travels with the world with his wife Karen, a Foreign Communication Service Officer with the US Department of Commerce. Recent posts have been Las Vegas, Nevada, Washington D.C., and Sydney, Australia. Currently, Brian’s RO is Buenos Aires, Argentina, in the Palermo Chico district. Brian is online and in contact with the Boise office on a daily basis.

Brian has served as: outside counsel to Valley Regional Transit, southwest Idaho’s regional transportation authority, outside counsel to COMPASS, the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for northern Ada County and Canyon County; founding counsel for the Idaho Association of Realtors Legal Hotline; president of Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Boise (he has been Master of Ceremonies the last 16 years for the annual Boise BOMA Real Estate Symposium); chair of the Public Participation Committee for COMPASS; a member of the Board of Directors for Senior Programs of Boise City/Ada County; and a member of the Boise City Development Impact Fee Advisory Committee; a member of the Board of Directors for the Downtown Business Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the Idaho Fish and Wildlife Foundation, a founding member of The CORE, a med-tech industry group, a member of the Board of Directors of the Sawtooth Society; a member of the Board of Directors of the Cabin;, a member of the Board of Directors for the Grand Prix Association of Meridian (Indy Car Racing); and a founding member of Boise Elevated.
