Pro Bono Work

As one of the first private firms in Idaho to compensate its attorneys for representing pro bono clients, we take our responsibility to provide service to organizations with limited means seriously. We also allow attorneys to choose the cases they take on, giving them the freedom to support causes they’re passionate about.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We’re devoted to creating an environment in which anyone can succeed. Our culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion supports progressive policies and programs that help us attract, develop, engage, and retain the best talent.

Our Origins

Hawley Troxell traces its roots to one of Idaho’s greatest legal minds and most unique individuals: James H. Hawley. From founding a successful private practice to serving as the state’s ninth governor, Hawley led a life of determination, exploration, and leadership — characteristics that our firm proudly carries to this day.

The Modern Firm

The present partnership of Hawley Troxell Ennis & Hawley was formed on January 1, 1964 when the grandsons of James Hawley — Jess Hawley Jr. and Jack Hawley — joined forces with Robert Troxell and Paul Ennis. The Hawleys combined their litigation practice with Bob Troxell’s business expertise and Paul Ennis’ experience in business and litigation.

Headquartered in Boise since 1964, Hawley Troxell opened an office in Pocatello in 1985, expanded to Ketchum in 1992, and established a presence in Reno, Nevada, in 2003. In 2010, Hawley Troxell expanded to northern Idaho by opening an office in Coeur d’Alene.
