Boise, Idaho – July 13, 2021. Hawley Troxell is pleased to announce Chelsea Porter and Melissa Schafer have been selected as Idaho Business Review’s 2021 Accomplished Under 40 Honorees. Each year, a selection committee comprised of past winners and Idaho Business Review staff review many nominations before finalizing the list of honorees. The judges consider applicants based on leadership, professional accomplishments, community support, and vision/meeting goals.
Chelsea Porter, an attorney with the firm’s Public Finance and Local Government practice group. She serves as bond counsel, issuer’s counsel, and disclosure counsel in various public finance transactions. She also aids clients with ongoing compliance issues throughout the life of their bonds. In addition, she assists in the representation of lenders and borrowers in the documentation and due diligence necessary for commercial lending transactions.
Chelsea is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children pro bono attorney, a member of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Leadership Boise (Class of 2021-2022), a member of Idaho Women Lawyers, and a member of the Boise Young Professionals.
Chelsea earned her J.D. magna cum laude from Gonzaga University School of Law, was on Gonzaga Law Review (2012-2014), and received her B.A. cum laude in Communications. She is licensed to practice in Idaho and Oregon.
Melissa Schafer is the firm’s Human Resources Manager. Melissa joined Hawley Troxell in 2002 and during her tenure has contributed her talents to the firm in several roles and departments. Her breadth of contribution has enabled her to convert her education and her strong skill set into a career in legal management. As Human Resource Manager she provides leadership to the firm leveraging her skills and firm knowledge to enhance her contribution to the management team.
Melissa is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), Human Resources of Treasure Valley (HRATV), Western Pensions & Benefits Council, and Association of Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA National). She has been a member of the Association of Legal Administrators since 2015, was Secretary from 2017-2020, and is currently the President-Elect.
Melissa earned her MBA from Boise State University and received her B.A. in Management and Organizational Leadership from George Fox University.
