Hawley Troxell Board of Partners Elect Sheila Schwager to the Board

Boise, Idaho – February 8, 2020.  Hawley Troxell is pleased to announce that partner, Sheila R. Schwager has been elected to a 4-year term to the Firm’s Board of Partners.  She joins Brad Miller, Tom Mortell, Steve Thomas, and Nick Miller who serves as the firm’s Managing Partner.

Sheila Schwager is co-chair of the Creditor Rights/Bankruptcy practice group. She focuses her practice on creditor rights and bankruptcy, including the representation of consumer and commercial lenders involving the Uniform Commercial Code, federal and state lending laws, foreclosures, collections, workouts, and the defense of lender liability claims. She has experience with State and Federal consumer protection laws on behalf of creditors, including federal and state telemarketing laws, credit reports, Fair Debt Collection Procedure Act, and loan workouts. Ms. Schwager has substantial experience in a wide variety of legal issues that arise in the auction industry. She also participates in litigation and trials in California and has appeared before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Ms. Schwager conducts pro bono services for the Idaho State Bar, participating in the Bankruptcy Hotline, acting as an arbitrator for attorney fee dispute cases that have arisen between local attorneys and their clients and is involved with I-CARE, an educational group of professionals working with high schools to provide credit issue counseling and education. She also participated as an Attorney Mentor in Youth Court and in mock trial presentations for the local high schools. Ms. Schwager is also an active CASA Pro Bono attorney.

Ms. Schwager has received numerous honors, Mountain States Top 50 Women Super Lawyers; Mountain States Super Lawyer; Idaho Business Review Leaders in Law, Partner; Idaho Business Review Women of the Year; Best Lawyers of America-Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law; Chamber and Partners USA, Bankruptcy/Restructuring; Professionalism Award from the Commercial Law & Bankruptcy Section of the Idaho State Bar; Idaho Business Review, Accomplished Under 40 Recipient; and Women’s & Children’s Alliance, Tribute to Women & Industry (TWIN) Award Recipient.

Ms. Schwager graduated form University of Idaho, B.S. cum laude and received her J.D. from the University of Idaho Law School summa cum laude.  Ms. Schwager is also a graduate of the Boise Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Boise Program.
