Attorneys and Law Students
Hawley Troxell continually seeks talented attorneys to strengthen firm practice areas, meet the diverse demands of client work, and to maintain the firm’s strong traditions. We welcome attorneys new to the profession, as well as those with experience.
Staff
With competitive benefits, development opportunities, and an engaging culture, Hawley Troxell works hard to offer a challenging and rewarding environment for employees. We pride ourselves on our low turnover rate, and we’ve enjoyed several milestone celebrations of tenure with our staff.
Our Commitment to Communities
Hawley Troxell is a proud supporter of organizations and initiatives in each of the cities where we live and work. From sponsoring events to serving on nonprofit boards, we take an active role in enabling collective success.

Training and Mentorship
Hawley Troxell encourages staff to participate in firm training programs and outside educational opportunities. To support our team’s development, we provide tuition assistance for approved educational courses, in addition to in-house training programs.
We also encourage our staff to pursue professional goals and provide support in a variety of ways — both formally and informally. We prefer to promote from within whenever possible. Staff who show an interest in and aptitude for specific positions, and who obtain the necessary training, often see their careers thrive while working with us.

Hawley Troxell is built on decades of experience and is committed to building a foundation for success far into the future — for our clients, our employees, and for the firm itself.
Summer Program
Hawley Troxell’s summer associate program is a 12-week, full-time program that gives 2L law students an opportunity to work side by side with associates and partners. Summer associates are not assigned to any one practice area, so they may find themselves assisting in multiple cases and transactions. Each summer associate is assigned to a mentor who is responsible for general assistance on firm matters, as well as an attorney to coordinate and regulate the workflow so that each summer associate has a positive experience that closely relates to the practice of law at Hawley Troxell.
Successful summer associate candidates will work well with others in a fast-paced legal environment. They will be presented with challenges associated with a premier law practice, as well as the close-knit culture of a mid-sized firm and the enjoyable lifestyle Idaho and the Inland Northwest offers. Candidates should also hold high class rankings and show involvement in law school activities such as law review or moot court.
Employment Offers
At the end of the program, summer associates may be extended an offer of employment following graduation or completion of a judicial clerkship.
Judicial Clerkships
We believe judicial clerkships provide new attorneys invaluable experience. We strongly encourage summer associates to obtain a judicial clerkship upon law school graduation before joining the firm as a full-time associate. For this reason, we offer a one-year partnership track credit, on a case-by-case basis, for candidates who complete a judicial clerkship and begin employment at the firm the following year. Candidates applying for full-time employment may also be eligible to receive payment of bar dues (or reimbursement if dues have already been paid), a study stipend, and a clerkship bonus.

Law School Hiring
Hawley Troxell typically conducts interviews at the University of Idaho Law School and campuses throughout the Northwest and California. Qualified applicants from law schools nationwide who have a genuine interest in living and working in Idaho or the Inland Northwest are also encouraged to apply.
