Idaho Human Rights Commission Statistics for Fiscal Year 2012

Miller in Articles & Blogs, Employment Law on January 18, 2013The Idaho Human Rights Commission administers state anti-discrimination laws and has statutory authority to investigate complaints of discrimination in education, employment, real estate transactions, and public accommodations based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, and disability. Each year, the Idaho Human Rights Commission tracks statistics concerning the total number of charges of discrimination filed in Idaho and provides a breakdown of the bases of those charges. In fiscal year 2012, a total of 491 charges were filed, with disability constituting the most commonly charged status in Idaho.
FY 2012 (many charges allege more than one basis, which is why the percentages below add up to more than 100%):
- Disability – 38% of all claims
- Sex – 36% of all claims
- Retaliation (all bases) – 25% of all claims
- Age – 24% of all claims
- National Origin – 11% of all claims
- Race/Color – 7% of all claims
- Religion – 6% of all claims
