Payton Hampton is an associate in the firm’s litigation practice group in Pocatello.
During law school, Payton was an Executive Footnote Editor for the Utah Law Review, a Quinney Fellow, and a Teaching Assistant in the Legal Writing Program and the Academic Support Program. He was also awarded Best Oralist and Best Team Brief from the University of Utah at the Giles Sutherland Rich Moot Court Competition. Payton also served as an Intern for the U.S Army JAG Corps and an Extern on the Utah Court of Appeals.
In his previous career, Payton was a wildland firefighter on the Logan Interagency Hotshot Crew, where he qualified as a squad boss and served in roles as a sawyer and EMT while fighting fires throughout the western states and Alaska and Canada. Payton enjoys smoking meat for family and friends, skiing, fly-fishing, and playing basketball. He is proficient in written and spoken Finnish.
