Fernando Aceves is an Associate of the firm’s Business Law group, with a focus on employee benefits and executive compensation. He has worked with publicly owned, nonprofit, private, and governmental employers. Fernando focuses his practice on providing ERISA, IRC, DOL, PPACA, COBRA, and HIPAA compliance advice for qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans. He also advises clients on executive compensation arrangements and has experience providing counsel on qualification and compliance issues for a variety of employee benefit plans, including 401(k), 457, 403(b), 125/cafeteria, 409A, and pension/defined benefit plans.
Although he was most recently living in Michigan, Fernando is originally from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and is glad to be returning to his home state with his family. Earlier in his career, prior to his experience as an ERISA/benefits attorney, Fernando was a stay-at-home dad while his wife served as a Captain in the United States Air Force. During law school, he was the president of the Hispanic Law Student Association and was an intern to the Hon. Justice David F. Viviano of the Michigan Supreme Court. When he is not providing counsel, Fernando spends his time hiking, skiing, and doing anything outdoors with his wife and kids.
